This project focuses on recreating the personal website of Belgian composer Frank Nuyts, migrating it from a restrictive Wix setup to a WordPress platform. The aim was to preserve the look and feel of the original site while significantly enhancing its scalability, structure, and content control. The previous platform limited the ability to fully showcase Frankās diverse body of work, current projects, and artistic vision, prompting the need for a more customizable solution.
The development began with a comprehensive content audit of the Wix site, followed by the setup of a new WordPress environment. All written and media content was carefully migrated and restructured. An audio gallery plugin was integrated to support embedded playback of musical works, while content was optimized for performance and long-term maintainability. The site was designed to be fully editable, empowering Frank and his team to manage compositions, events, and updates independently moving forward.
Key functionalities include easy management of works, events, and news posts. Both the works and events sections were developed using custom post types to allow for structured content handling and future scalability. Works are organized chronologically by year, providing a clear archival view of Frankās compositions. Events, on the other hand, are displayed in a dedicated agenda and are automatically separated into upcoming and past performances for easy browsing. Music previews are embedded via Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud, while a dedicated news page features updates and announcements. Downloadable press kits in both Dutch and English are available for media and organizers. The site also includes direct links to Frankās affiliated bands, Hardscore and Beat Love Oracle, ensuring a cohesive and professional online presence.
